Okay.
There a million fan sites out there for the Billys.
But what do you kids think?
Anyone out there have any backstage or frontstage stories about the glory that is this group?
Did you see them with the original line-up of Kirk Wall, the brothers Marshall and Dennis Fetchett??
Um. I looooooove these guys. First saw them in '97, I think ?? That was the first time.
I was immediately in love with Kirk Wall. Because I'm super creepy like that... I ran into him in the streets of New Orleans Sqare that first day and had my picture (long lost now, I think) taken with him. He asked if I was from 'around here' (there). I thought he was hitting on me. Ah, young love.
But really. What a show. I come from melodrama and everything's big and audiences are encouraged to participate and have a swell time along with all the cool kids onstage. That was Billy Hill for me. Wild. Fun. Well-written, even.
And the music !!
I have about four or so copies of their record (CD for you young things). It never ceased to amaze me that such a proficient group of musicians did something so silly. Why it surprised me is beyond me in retrospect.
But, man.
What a great gig. Lucky fellers, those guys.
I know the line-up is rather rotating these days... I'm not sure I'll ever make it to see my favorites.
Elvis Billy was played (the last time I saw them, in early '06) by the skinny cat that used to be in the Mayor's Show just out front of the G. Horseshoe.
He's good. But he's no Kirk Wall.
And just in case none of you has ever realised it -
Every fan letter is creepy. There's no way around it.
Trust me.

Re: Billy Hill and the Hillbillies.
Thu, October 25, 2007 - 1:33 PMThey have at least two CDs now :)
Favorite Billy stories probably deal when my RenFaire group used to go in pack formation on Easter Sunday. One year we happened to pick the exact show that the BH&H fanclub went to - the ENTIRE Golden Horseshoe packed with screaming Billy fans. They were... pleasantly surprised...
Another would be from when they were playing at the Big Thunder Ranch. Again on an Easter, one of our more forward young ladies threw Billy her bra. He barely missed a beat - mopped his face with it, pocketed it, and went on with even more silliness than before. We even got an encore out of 'em for that one :^) -

Re: Billy Hill and the Hillbillies.
Thu, October 25, 2007 - 9:35 PMi really "met" Billy Hill and the Hillbillies a few years back when my friends and i did our Disney anniversary trip - our theme that year was "the Beverly Hillbillies" ... and you should have seen Billy's face when they stepped out onto the stage and there was a roomfull of hillbillies staring back at 'em!
We had great fun with them... they became good friends with the "leader" of our pack - they became such good friends that Billy and the Hillbillies even played at his wedding!
Great bunch of guys & I try to go to their shows whenever I'm at Disneyland. -

And yes, the leader of the pack (Billy Scott in the pictures above) is my beloved husband, and we did have Billy Hill and the Hillbillies play at our wedding. And they were fabulous.

Thu, November 8, 2007 - 6:10 PMI had to laugh because I heard about this the day it happened! I was in town for the NFFC convention and a friend told me how we had just missed the absolute best Billy Hill show because a bunch of people had all dressed up! -

Re: Billy Hill and the Hillbillies.
Tue, October 30, 2007 - 9:10 AMI saw Bill Hill and the Hillbillies for the first time this year. What a great show! I've never laughed so hard in all my life... the faces the lead makes are ridiculously funny!!
I would love to see videos of the past performers for this act. I can't imagine that show ever being boring. I try to catch at least one show every time I'm there. Usually it winds up that I see them every other month. ^_^ My friends and I like to imitate the faces Billy Hill makes while waiting in line for the next ride -- line ends up being really quick!
