Re: Confessions of a Disneyland Jack Sparrow.
Tue, May 27, 2008 - 1:16 PMI read that last week, it's a GREAT piece. From what I've heard from some of my former CM's it's a pretty decent depiction. I had a friend who was Alice, and she got hit on A LOT. -

Tue, June 10, 2008 - 12:02 PMI worked in the Entertainment Dept. in the 80's, and sounds like things haven't changed too much since then....Of course, there were no camera phone issues back then!

Tue, June 10, 2008 - 3:59 PMI remember him from faire as well - I'm pretty sure he showed up this season at RPFS.
Werd on the entire "hitting on the character" bit. I can't remotely remember how many times I got felt up, groped, etc. when I worked Haunt. It was creepy - I was in a full face latex mask (like you can buy at halloween stores), and several women felt it necessary to try to french kiss the mask. *I* wouldn't lick that nasty thing. -

Wed, June 11, 2008 - 8:42 AMGross! French kissing your sweaty latex mask? Ugh... some women are weird when you put them in extreme situations... and haunts are just the place where that happens. I worked security for a few years and my post was was usually walking through a section of the haunt. Saw some weird and crazy stuff....

Re: Confessions of a Disneyland Jack Sparrow.
Wed, June 11, 2008 - 8:57 PMI actually know a woman who, for many years, would hit on the monsters at Haunt, the costumed (furry) characters at Disneyland and any cowboy who swaggered across Knotts. It was really creepy, especially when she had no idea what they really looked like. One particularly sad moment was, while attending an SCA event of all things, this woman spent the day flirting pretty aggressively with a man in Bedouin garb. At the end of the day, said Bedouin went looking for her. When he found her, they went off to sit and chat. Once he had removed his head covering and part of his costume, she got up and walked away! Apparently, he was not as handsome in reality as she'd made him out to be in her head. I was embarrassed for her, because she didn't have the good sense to be. -

Thu, June 12, 2008 - 10:58 AMYikes... well everyone really does look better in garb. It's a shame that she built it up.
I always like to turn the other direction with I see Jack Sparrow coming down the road, cause it usually means that there is a gaggle of women behind him. and those women sure do get pushy! All for a picture with a character actor...
